Our active church reaches out to its members, the community, and the world with several health ministries. This ever-developing outreach includes a Veteran’s Ministry, Cancer Ministry, and Lyme Disease Ministry.
Veterans Ministry works to support our veterans. The Co-Pastor, Andy Hart speaks to various groups around Chambersburg about veterans affairs as well as PTSD. There are weekly devotionals on Facebook. We have hundreds of likes on Facebook which means that those who like the page will get a devotional weekly. It reaches about 3,500 people per week. What is interesting, and exciting, is the international audience is growing. 25% of the readers come from South Africa, and there is a growing number from Australia and Canada. PCFS extends its reach all over the world!
Balm of Gilead Cancer Ministry has many exciting possibilities! Like Veteran’s Ministries, we have a Facebook page. We have hundreds of likes and reach about 2,700 people internationally. We also are supporting the Relay for Life Event. What Is Relay For Life? In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5 billion to fight cancer. We also are providing assistance to church members with cancer if you need a ride to a doctor, shopping, etc.
Lyme Disease: Central PA is ground zero for this disease hence this is another avenue for health ministries. While we are developing, we encourage you to attend programs about Lyme and get informed. This dynamic ministry is growing daily. If you would like to participate, come join us!
